Joe Nichols
began his career at Byars & Associates, Inc. in September, 1998
after the successful merge of the agency that he owned, Blackwood
Insurance, into Byars & Associates. Joe currently serves Marketing
Manager of Commercial Lines.
Joe graduated from Freed-Hardeman University (B.S. 1985) in
Henderson, TN. He currently serves as a member of the university's
Advisory Council.
Joe began his insurance career in 1986 with the Tippens & Jackson
Insurance Agency in Nashville, TN. He served as vice-president
before his departure and was responsible for developing sales
of both personal and commercial lines of insurance.
Joe's local insurance career began in 1994 when he and his
family moved to Jasper from Nashville to purchase the Blackwood
Insurance Agency. The agency prospered and Joe was viewed favorably
by Byars & Associates as a competitor that they desired as a
colleague; consequently, the two agencies merged.
Joe is a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). He has completed
numerous courses toward the completion of two other professional
designations; the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter
(CPCU), and the Fellow Life Management Institute (FLMI). He
is a former board member of the Jasper Area of Life Underwriters.
Joe is currently pursuing his Masters Degree in Risk Management
and Insurance from Florida State University.
Joe is active in the Jasper community. He is past president
of the Jasper Kiwanis Club. He and his wife, Cathy, have two
children, Derek and Lauren. They are faithful and active members
of the Sixth Avenue Church of Christ. |
